Buyers can cherry pick from a pool of 134,310 coders...enabling them to hire a coder across the country or across the globe…from the comfort of their computers. Buyers who wish to hire internationally, can take advantage of favorable overseas exchange rates, resulting in work being done for 50-90% less than if the project were done in-country. Coders are also given access to a huge pool of potential work and have the ability to work independently from their homes rather than for a company.

These buyers post their projects on the Rent a Coder's web site, along with a maximum amount that they are willing to pay. The project is seen by 134,310 coders world-wide and they place their bids on doing the work. The buyer can browse through each bidder's resume, certifications and previous work history (including comments left by previous buyers) on the site.

CodeLance.com
CodeLance is an online marketplace for custom software development. CodeLance is aimed at those looking for custom software development (buyers) and those willing to provide their programming services (developers).
Buyers post details of their requirements to the CodeLance project board which are then viewed by developers. Any developer wishing to work on the project can then place a bid for carrying out the work required. The buyer can then discuss details of the project with developers who have placed a bid before choosing a developer to carry out the work. Once a developer has been chosen the system will swap the buyer's and developer's email addresses to allow them to communicate outside of the CodeLance website during the project implementation phase (Note: "primary" projects allow immediate disclosure of contact information). When the work has been completed to the buyer's satisfaction the developer's fee is transferred to their CodeLance account from where it may be withdrawn.
